Form or function?
My husband doesn't know where everything in the kitchen goes (even though we've lived here for over 20 years). When exasperated, I try to remember I don't know where everything in the tool shed goes, and in many cases, I don't even know what the tools are for!
Last time I was hunting for my pudding basin, eventually I gave up and asked him where he'd put it. "With those other white bowls" was the answer. A pudding basin is roughly the same shape as a Spanish white-glazed terracotta serving bowl, so that's where it belongs.
Today, I was looking for my German ginger grater. After hunting in all of what I would consider the logical places, I had an epiphany: the grater is saucer-shaped, so I'm likely to find it among the saucers. Sure enough, there it was.
I like kitchen implements that are aesthetically pleasing as well as practical - and this is the best ginger grater I've ever used.
