A Winter Bee
We were a little later up than we should have been today. It was another sunny day and once we had done what needed doing we decided to go for a drive to Chambers Wood.
This is where we normally go to see Purple Emperor and White Admiral butterflies, among other species. We knew that there would be none of those at this time of year, but we'd hoped to see maybe fungi or at least find some good light through the trees type photos.
When we arrived though, we found that one of the car-parks was out of bounds and there was a large group of landscapers brutally thinning out the woodland. I suppose they know what they are doing, but it does seem harsh, and I'm concerned about wildlife that would be trying to hibernate.
We had a walk around the very overgrown Butterfly Garden and that is where I saw this very large bee. Just the one, although we noticed a couple of smaller ones around this plant too.
After that we had a short wander around the wood where there was no work happening. I may add another shot taken from my phone as an extra. I did take my camera along too today fortunately, as the bee photo would not have been possible on my phone!
We had a late lunch and I have done some reading.
