Stonechat 2

So today was a Lymington day.  I got their early, the sun was shining and although the tide was in so there were no birds close to shore on the seaward side, there were plenty in the reserve on the other side of the sea walls.

As you can see, I met the stonechat again (in very much the same place as last time) and was able to get a fair bit closer to him.  What very lovely little birds they are, and in this shot I did like the way it's orange breast blended with the rusty wire.

I also did a bit more botanising as you'll see from the extra.  I've wondered for a while why so many michaelmas daisies grow this close to the sea.  And today I also came across some wonderfully fluffy seedheads.  But it wasn't until I got home and looked them up that I realised they were the seedheads of what I'd been calling michaelmas daisies - which aren't at all, they're sea asters (aster tripolium rather than aster novi-belgii).  Always very satisfying to finally get these things right ;)).
