Almost a Kingfisher
This morning I went over to Sculthorpe Moor. The sun came out and it was very pleasant wandering around. The volunteer at the entrance desk told me that a kingfisher was visiting regularly recently, so I went off in search of it. At the furthest hide, I walked in and saw the kingfisher on a branch nearest to the hide..........and it immediately flew away. Then I walked back to the Fen hide where they also visit, and it did, but too far away for a photo. It had been much closer earlier according to another visitor. I did get photos, but my camera focused on the reeds behind the kingfisher, not the slatted fencing it was sitting on. Oh well, it was still lovely to see it and to see lots of birds around. I also saw a lovely little wren but didn’t get a photo. At one point it landed on the lip of the open hide window about a foot away, I don’t know which of us was more startled! This afternoon I did some more sorting in the garden, and cleaned a number of pot feet and plant halos. The main jobs I have left are leaf picking and gutter cleaning - both needing cold weather to get the leaves / moss down, which is looking like arriving this weekend.
