Cancelled

The morning wasn't too busy. I booked a meeting room for my colleagues coming to London tomorrow, only to be informed that most of them would still be travelling at the time of the meeting and couldn't attend. I might sit in the room alone.

Occasionally, I look through old archives and entries on different websites I have had. On this day in 2005, I wrote a review of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. When I look closely at the URL of the original entry, I see that I spelt the film title as "spotess ming". I do not think my typing has got any better. The review suggested the film was "cool" but was otherwise non-committal.

At lunchtime, I went out to buy batteries for several so-called smart home devices that have run out of power. Of course, one of the devices needs an unusual battery that is not commonly available, while the other seems to have stopped working once the last set of batteries died. I raised a support case for the latter. One of the devices that needed new batteries is the outdoor temperature sensor: as I write, this is 8 degrees and feels very autumnal.

At some coffee break junction in my day, I looked at the little display that tells me the train departure times from Raynes Park station. I noticed it was showing many cancellations. I checked online and saw delays, but the train I needed after 6pm was reported as on time. So, I changed for my Tai Chi class and was about to leave when everything was cancelled or delayed. I wouldn't make it on any of those trains. So, I gave up and walked around the streets until my exercise tracker said I'd hit my daily target. I was at home by the time PY returned with sausages to accompany cauliflower cheese.
