Wedding present

Today was a day with lots of tears and laughter.  Strange how you can feel both emotions at the same time?  My sister K arrived with E and Brother S, James' sisters and No.2 and H.  They all took turns to sit with Aimee and talk to her..........OH was amazing taking on the 'catering' role and making endless cups of tea.  Today was due to be their wedding day but sadly it was not to be.  JC had received lots of cards and was opening the cards reading them to Aimee.  We all gathered around her bed to listen and I suggested opening a bottle of bubbles for a toast (to what?!).  It turned into a marvellous impromptu celebration and JC read his speech, OH read his too and I read a poem which E had written.  JC dialled his best man(men) and hilariously one was in the loo on the train out of London.  So he dialled back when he was out of the loo and we got them both on whatsapp call and they read their best men speech to more laughter.  It was not scripted or contrived but a lovely occasion.

James opened a wedding present which contained a beautiful picture of the pair of them in a lovely frame - it is how I will remember her with a BIG beaming smile, happy before the tumour.

I had taken a Cook meal out of the freezer for dinner and V said that she would go to the pub with the girls, however 5 loaves and 2 fishes comes to mind as I made dinner for 4 stretch to 11 (including a veggie option - cauliflower cheese for my brother.  We moved on to the wedding Sloe Gin which has been maturing under the stairs, and we all had a glass.

What a day.  Emotional, sad, up and down.

Another night sleeping by Aimee's side, but this time she didn't move very much and slept very deeply.
