NZ 'safety boots'

Jandals to us, probably flip-flops, thongs or slops to you. They have another name here too 'NZ safety boots'.

No falling-down-pants and skateboard for this cool student dude. Just layers of shirts and jerseys hanging out, jacket sleeve pulled down to cover the unoccupied hand and jandals on his feet. He's taken jandal's versatility to new heights, adding thick wooly socks and hey presto, warm feet!

And cold it was today. If it's not cold at your place or not cold enough try the following for a bit of old fashioned empathy. Open your freezer door (or fridge door if you don't have a freezer) and stand in front of it for a while. Better still, stick your head in the real effect.

There, now you've experienced winter in Christchurch without the cost and inconvience of travelling here ;-)

Not such a good day for me. That's two in a row so tomorrow has to be better.
