Home! (Leaving/Going)

Awoke early this morning - the day of our departure back home from Portugal - to find this wee chap chirruping furiously. Just newly fledged, he'd made it as far our balcony and decided that was quite far enough for now thank you very much! This pic captures him in full voice - calling out for his parents I think - but doesn't really show how tiny he was - only a couple of inches high. I like that you can see his new feathers still a bit unfurled.

I was a bit worried about him, but he then started - albeit small - flights between our balcony and the next. Clearly a fast learner :)

Journey home uneventful, but arrived to heavy rain and then a lengthy powercut where we live. We ended up having to go out for our dinner, as we had no means to cook anything in the house - honest!
