Not far below the clouds
Woke to rain this morning. Over the morning the rain was more persistent and at time bucketed down. Discouraged S and daughter J from a shopping trip. I didn't even think of walking outside until quite late this afternoon. Even then I had no intention of going any distance.
I did go down the drive and slightly off the footpath where I got a blip, showing the low cloud.
Caught up with some of the reactions to the action in Parliament yesterday. The young wahine who is a first term MP for Ti Pati Maori and gave one of the most powerful speeches yesterday, has been suspended by the Speaker as the organiser of the Haka to end her speech. Parliament has often been subject to 'theatre'. None so powerful as this one.
She spoke loudly, and emotionally about the issues. As dhe finished her speech, she ceremoniously tore in half her copy of the tabled Bill. That gesture was followed by a slow and deliberate move of her party colleagues, joined by others, as they issued the Kamate Kamate challenge.
Seymour appears to have not known that his temerity in wanting to change the foundation document of Aotearoa/New Zealand. He appears to have not considered the implications of (some weeks ago now)issuing an image of the text of the Treaty of Waitangi from which he had crossed out almost all the words as being wrong or irrelevant.
