Monet On My Mind

I took lots of considered shots but this was just a quick snap of the lake through the hedge. As Mish and I stood there Jack heron flew into view and a cormorant took off. Then a flash of electric blue. A kingfisher, what a thrill! The lily pads are still on the surface, it won't be long before they sink. It was Claude Monet's birthday yesterday. I think he would have liked the afternoon light on the water.

I used to love walking round the lake but stopped as Mish is scared of dogs and our neighbour's grandson sometimes used to visit with a mastiff. My neighbour died in July. I wonder what will happen to the property now.
