The Waiting Worlds That Lap Against Our Side
On This Day In History
1941: Joseph Goebbels publishes his screed of hate
Quote Of The Day
"Make the lie big, make it simple, keep saying it, and eventually they will believe it."
(Joseph Goebbels)
Isn't it strange the paths our thoughts take us down? I like the Slapped Ham channel on YouTube so I decided to watch one of their videos last night. There I encountered one of the most terrifying individuals it has ever been my misfortune to encounter. That man (?) is Kenneth Copeland, a televangelist preacher with a personal fortune of $750,000,000 who preaches a gospel which states that you will go to Hell if you do not give all of your money to Him (well, him, actually.) If you only have two cents, you damn well better give one cent to Kenneth Copeland or you will burn in Hell forever.
Here is 1:51 of Kenneth Copeland preaching. Now, if that wasn't enough to give you nightmares, here is a recent interview he did with Inside Edition's Lisa Guerrero who wanted to ask him why he said recently that he would not fly commercial because it is like "getting inside a tube with a bunch of demons." This really is one of the creepiest interviews I have ever seen. This man is completely unhinged, and I have the utmost admiration for Lisa Guerrero who did not flinch as Copeland, at times, looked as if he was going to rip her throat out. This woman stared down the Devil!
I did manage to sleep after watching this nightmare fuel, but I woke up around one in the morning with my mind running round the question, "How would I define my religious status?" I am certainly not atheist; I have a strong belief in the supernatural, including life after death, angels and demons. Many aspects of Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism and Shintoism ring true with me, as well as the Muslim belief in jinn. However, I do not subscribe to any of these orthodoxies. So, I turned to Google to see if I could find a religious status which seemed to define me best. In the end, the ones that seemed most fitting were Pantheist, Theosophist and Ietsist. In the end, I decided to define myself as Non-Doctrinal Pantheist.
So, I am absolutely conviced that Kenneth Copeland is possessed by a demon. A fitting image, I thought, would be of a Japanese yokai from Shigeru Mizuki's GeGeGe no Kitaro manga. Shigeru Mizuki absolutely believed in yokai and claimed to have seen several of them. This one is Makura Gaeshi, a yokai dating back to the seventeenth century. Most stories tell of mischievous spirits who prank sleeping humans by yanking pillows from under sleeping people's heads and putting them under their feet. Some other stories tell of a nastier creature who haunts the dreamlands and hunts people.
Sweet dreams.
