Swell

The tides are very high or very low and are called king tides. We drove to the north jetty in the hope to get a picture of some colorful starfish as a very low tide was expected, but the ocean was wild and hadn’t opened up the star fish rocks. Here you see the Siuslaw River where it encounters the ocean and the swell is for boats like climbing some stairs. Some years ago a boat with two experienced fishermen was keeled over and both people drowned.
