Wandering
After walking Django I went into Edinburgh to meet a former MSc student (L) who was visiting for the first time since she graduated, seven years ago. She wants to do a PhD, and wanted advice. I was her personal tutor, and it was gratifying to see how well she's doing - an Indonesian, now working for Amazon in Luxembourg, showing how diverse and meritocratic the world can be at times!
I'd wondered about seeing Spartans' League 2 match, but would have had to occupy myself for two hours somehow. However, when talking to L (in the Bayes Centre) my PhD student Y walked by, so we had a chat, and ended up doing some of the 1000 piece jigsaw that other PhD students had started.
After that, I had a very pleasant wander to Pilton, via the Botanical Gardens (see extra). The first half of Spartans against Stirling Albion was very poor, but Spartans improved in the second half, and ran out 3-0 winners, with two very pleasing goals.
I got rather cold at the game, so the walk south to the 47 bus route was very welcome!
