A Meandering Life...

A Touch of Brass

I popped over to my daughters in New Marske to work on her bathroom. As I arrived I saw the local church hall was having a Christmas fair and 5 piece brass band was playing outside. A Blip opportunity I thought. As it happened I walked away with a Blip, some orange drizzle cake and a pot of marmalade!

The band are called 'A Touch of Brass' and play around Teesside and at local venues in North Yorkshire and beyond. They formed in 2017.

My daughter's old mining cottage would not have had an inside bathroom when it was built back in the mid to late 19th century. An outside privy and a tin bath would have been the norm. The current bathroom would have been the 3rd bedroom and is very generous in size.

Hidden behind the bath and panels were 3 examples of past wallpapers that must have been in the bedroom. I have included an extra to show them, maybe you could date them?

We will leave them in-situ as they will not been seen once the bathroom is finished. Although the bath is changing position cupboards will hide them for future rediscovery.
