A day in the life

Indoor slow day, mostly working on musical stuff like playing and editing. The weather has changed to showers of rain and quite a lot of wind, next week we're forecasted slush och even snow. It's not unusual to have a cold period in November so I'm not surprised but still, I like it best without the wet, slushy snow.

I was again working at the theatre, this evening it was a music show. A guy calling himself Billy Opel was performing his own songs. Nothing special about the performance, two guys stand on the same spot and one of them sings and talks, the other one sings parts and plays the base. Their music is very simple but energetic and happy, he says all his music is happy. The lyrics are all his own and he's not too concerned about changing the melodies very much, it all sound a bit same, same. But, he fills the theatre to the last seat, he is incredibly popular. His audience is mixed, age-wise, from thirty to seventy an not people you would find in a Shakespeare play och a symphony orchestra concert. The music is more like early Elvis, mixed with country music influences and the audience knows most of the words. I'm fascinated. Here's a snippet that sounds like tonight. You'll have to imagine 300 people shout-singing along.
