Love these trees
The Mitchell’s Creek fire trail is our favourite ride on the bikes. Not being a public road, it’s totally deserted, offers magnificent scenery but is challenging in places.
We regularly marvel at the variety of trees - as it leaves Nellies Glen Rd, they are mainly thick barked Apple gums snd Stringy Barks but ascending towards the ridge there are clumps of these beautiful Grey Gums which can vary from battleship grey to a pastel grey depending on the time of year. For a few kms up on the ridge before dropping steeply to the creek, there are many eucalypts with pale yellow trunks.
This entire area, including the back half of our farm, was severely affected by the bushfires 5 years ago - there’s some evidence of this in the blip but most eucalypts and angophoras have an extraordinary capacity to survive intense fires and regenerate.
