First local transmitter
One of over 300 info boards across the city of Leicester, but this is probably my favourite.
BBC Radio Leicester first launched at 12:45 on 8th November 1967 on 95.05 VHF from the site located behind the board. The info board describes how the station went county-wide from a much higher site at Copt Oak in 1989 when it also switched to 104.9 where its been ever since. Now of course, the tower is a super high capacity mobile phone mast.
