Gap filler 1
Have been waiting for something relevant to fill these two gap days with. This will do for one of them. I took the picture in the future but the problem occurred on the 6th.
We have an old Cross Trainer thing in the garage that eldest has just decided to begin using now the weather for outdoor exercise has started getting not very nice. Also dark nights starting earlier.
The power adaptor has been on its last legs for a while and immediately went kaput. It's demise has been a result of being tethered to a mains socket in a garage full of all sorts & the lead being tripped over etc etc y'get the picture!
Reading the label on the adaptor it became clear that a trickle of 9 volts is all that it requires so after much googling I set about finding a suitable jack plug & a connector for a square 9 volt battery.
Happily such things are used by those clever peeps who mess around with Arduino boards so I could buy just the thing ready made that I wanted to solder together. Also rechargeable battery tech moving on somewhat, there exists 9v lithium batteries that can be recharged with a simple mobile phone charger that we already have several of, and said battery attached to the Cross Trainer with sticky back velcro.
Reeeeesult.
