Elephant garlic
These are the remains of last year's elephant garlic. They were given to me by an allotment neighbour whose family decided they prefer garlic and planted very late. As a result they didn't split into separate cloves. I have cooked with some of these (really nice in a tray of roast veg), but decided to plant the last 5 to see if they will grow on. They are in a raised bed with some shallots and I hope they will do well.
I also had a small tray of the survivors from the garlic, onions and shallots that weren't planted out last year. Some of them have been trying to grow in the shed, so I have put them around 3 edges of the raised bed to give them a chance. Even if they don't grow into huge bulbs, they may give the pollinators some flowers and me some green garlic and onions.
I took photos of these too, but they weren't on my phone when I got home. Not sure what happened there. :-(
