This'n'That

Cyclist

Renata and I went for a late morning walk before Kalyn’s afternoon volleyball game. We decided to walk past K’s house, thinking that she and her teammates would have left for practice. They were just leaving and were surprised to see us. Along the way, we spotted this stylized cyclist in a wall. I thought it was very eye-catching.
The team lost another match, almost a repeat of last night’s. They won the first two sets, then after the 10 minute break, lost the next three. They were playing Köln. Kalyn played great again. Scores: 25-12, 25-15, 22-25, 18-25, 10-15. They were very disappointed. The 10 minute break after the second set is optional, and K’s team chooses to have it. Sure seemed like it killed the momentum after the team won the first two sets last night and today.
We went to the VIP room again for a good meal and a glass of white wine. We fly home early on Tuesday morning, so Kalyn’s teammates gave us goodbye hugs. A couple of the team management guys and the assistant coach also came over to say goodbye and encouraged us to come back. The assistant coach was very complimentary about Kalyn and said that the team is lucky to have her. He said that he would like his daughter to grow up to be as nice a young woman as she is. What a lovely compliment! Unfortunately the coach was in a meeting so we didn’t have a chance to talk to him before we left. A bit sad to say goodbye to so many kind and welcoming people.
Kalyn is staying overnight. Not sure what we’ll do tomorrow, our last day with her in Straubing. It will be hard to say goodbye to her but it won’t be long before we see her again when she comes home for Christmas.
