Chimneys in Albury
A good day although When I got up I should have focused more rather than being a bit leisurely. I managed 2 loads of washing and hung one lot outside which despite being chilly dried better than that hanging inside. I zipped to Waitrose to get wrapping paper for Steve's present as we were meeting up for a celebratory lunch (Steve's 40th) at The Percy Arms in Chilworth. Run by South Africans, they do a splendid Sunday roast which we took advantage of. It was good to be together. As ever, the food is only part of the equation, the company is the most important part.
These rather splendid chimneys are atop a terrace of houses just along the road. They appear to be much, much larger than what is needed for houses of the size below. And are located in Albury not Chilworth (Maurice has put me right here)
Chilworth is a very pretty village in the Surrey Hills: "Chilworth was a monastery in the 11th Century and is so recorded in the Domesday Book. The Book records that Chilworth was held by one Alwin in the reign of Edward the Confessor, and after 1066 by Odo, Bishop of Bayeux and brother of William the Conqueror".
