Biding Time

Always interesting to me how birds, even those with fairly bright colors, can disappear into their habitat.  I was looking right at the cherry tree, with its few tenacious little leaves still holding on, and didn't even see the House Finch until it moved.  So perfectly does the finch blend into the winter landscape...

Nice long FT chat with my parents this morning and then some time outside enjoying another beautiful day.  Temps hit 60 today - wow.

I also confirmed an upcoming dog sports event that I will be shooting - very much looking forward to it!  I am going to rent a lens to try this time - one I've been reading about but haven't yet had in-hand.  The lens is 70-185mm f2.8.  It's not a top line lens like the 70-200 f2.8 that I rented for South Africa, but it also isn't as heavy so I think it is worth trying in the arena where I need more light to reach the sensor.
