To market, TWO markets
The sun was shining this morning but there was a chill in the air. My plans to swim were ruled out by an impromptu invite from the girls to visit a village hall Christmas market.
A browse around a handful of stalls and barista coffee with beans roasted in Kent made for an enjoyable hour.
This afternoon a trip to a Winter Fair, a visit I’d already planned prior to the morning’s invitation. I took along my new (American) neighbour who enjoyed the “Englishness” of it very much.
The barn was bitterly cold so we welcomed a mug of hot soup followed by a browse around the stalls, chat to various local producers of wine and crafts and made a donation to the raffle in aid of Breast Cancer Care.
I came home with a few handmade Christmas gifts and felt happy to be supporting local small businesses and pleased with my willpower to choose carefully and not be tempted by pretty things I can’t afford! Resisting the hats in particular was a challenge.
Cooked a roast dinner this evening and watched episode 2 of The Mirror and the Light. Mark Rylance is brilliant as Thomas Cromwell and Kate Phillips as Jane Seymour. Enjoying spotting the heritage locations on screen too.
