Yes, my book stash from yesterday! Sorry. Not pictured: S bought James Rebanks’ new book, which looks interesting. Quite different from his others.

I set off for home today. My train itinerary featured the dreaded words “Rail replacement bus service”, but actually it was very efficient. Arriving in Huddersfield we were directed to the correct bus stop for Manchester airport, and since we are in Yorkshire where people talk to each other, the various passengers were soon having an animated discussion on the merits of Denmark, Sweden, and Florida. A swanky coach turned up for the half dozen of us, there were no problems on the M62, and on arrival I racked up my step count by 3,000 while wandering round the airport looking for a taxi rank. Surprisingly difficult to find if you didn’t arrive in arrivals.

I’m now in the Premier Inn again. I had a nice hot bath when I arrived, then dinner of fish and chips again, while looking out of the window at the snow. At least it’s not settling.
