Day 16 - Ko Samui!

Ko Samui today! No harbour for big ships, so their ferries came to collect us all. We had a great trip round the island, visiting a Big Buddha and lots and lots of temples. They were all on one site, so we could wander between them. Fabulously decorated! The brightest colours. The shiniest gold. The pond (or river) had humungous fish plopping around in it.

It was SO hot and humid, but I managed to walk up the few dozen steps to a gloriously shiny Big Buddha. We actually had time to have an ice cream too.

We had a treat at a viewpoint overlooking a beach - young chaps were there chopping open fresh young coconuts for us. They were delicious. And they chopped off a bit of the shell to make a ‘spoon’ to get the luscious flesh out.

Back on board, disembarkation arrangements were checked. Yes, it’s the last day of this cruise. Some people are sailing on through Indonesia, and ending in Sydney just before Christmas! And some of those people started in Japan!

We went to the crew show, which was fun. Staff groups from Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines did traditional dances, then dinner in the best (steak) restaurant, followed by a final show from the performers - Show Tunes.
