Fieldfare
It's like Christmas come early... the kitchen arrived and only one base unit missing out of a couple of dozen... hmm, yeah, hate to see that as a win but... anyhow, a problem for another day.
Just sat in on the livestream for Sony's new Alpha 1 mkII... well, sat through half of it, probably. By that time I and many of the other watchers had realised there was nearly nothing new to reveal, and I went away secure in the knowledge my A7r5 is still a far better camera than I am a photographer...
Out of my study window, a brief flurry of movement. A fieldfare landed in the holly tree. Sat there for ages pointedly not eating any berries. Ah well, a shot is a shot. The winter's approach can be gauged by how soon and how quickly the holly bush is stripped of berries.
The bird is set against the complication of the dark leaves and red berries of the holly and the lighter leaves of the oak tree behind. And while it's been snowing all day, nothing is yet sticking to the landscape.
I note today is the 1000th day of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Escalation on both sides now places Eurasia under threat of war, while the matter of America is yet to be fully assessed. This still isn't the C21st I was looking for.
