The Storr
A day of hail, snow, and sun. Very icy this morning, and we did wonder if we'd make it down the access road to our cottage. Safely on the main-ish road, we headed towards Portree to get some supplies in case we do get snowed in. We stopped at The Storr en route, paid the hefty parking fee, and climbed up. It's changed a lot since we were last here, the forest of sitka spruce has gone (it had been a blot on the landscape), and there is now a stone path all the way up. A big improvement on the ankle deep mud that we remember. The views are as stupendous as ever! We then drove on to Portree and had a wander around the town before doing a big shop at the coop. The drive home was a bit hairy as there was a lot more snow, and none of the roads had been gritted. Made it in one piece - don't think we'll be going anywhere in the car tomorrow!
