Little blue sock
My profuse apologies for yet another Bean Blip.
Just to the left of her ear is the nicely-healing wound with its stitches. It is very fortunate that she can't reach it with her tongue, because otherwise she would have to wear a bucket on her head (the cone of shame). It would be a nightmare in our tiny spaces.
However, she can scratch the wound with her back foot. And that is exactly what she did first thing this morning, which resulted in a small area of bleeding. I guess the wound may be itchy now that it is healing, but there are another nine days before the stitches come out.
The only solution I could come up with was to lend her one of my socks, and to secure it around her ankle with velcro.
She doesn't much like it and has been trying to shake it off with every step, but it is secure and it will prevent her sharp claws catching any stitches and causing real damage.
I did remove it for our walk, but once we were settled indoors again, back it went. At which point I was at the receiving end of a doleful look.
Our first walk for four days started in sunshine, but by the time we were a kilometre down the road there was a smattering of rain, which grew heavier as we carried on. For 15 minutes we sheltered in S&N's hay barn while it pelted down outside.
I could see from the radar images on the weather app that it was just one big cell which was moving pretty quickly. So I did my back exercises while Bean curled up on a hessian sack for a snooze.
We left the shelter once it had eased, and headed straight for home because the sky looked threatening even though the radar didn't show any more rain. Just as we walked through the gate Chez Mima it started again, and we scampered up to the truck before a second soaking.
I have had an easy day in all other respects. I woke this morning with the telltale signs of mild diverticulitis, so I have been drinking plenty of water, eating very small amounts of easily-digested food and generally being idle. Touch wood it nips it in the bud.
Fortunately I picked up Louise Penny's new Armande Gamache novel from the library on Tuesday, so I have been exceedingly happily absorbed. Goodness, she writes a good book.
