Beer and Pastries

My Dear Princess and Dear Fellow,

The signs of the hīkoi were all over the pavement today.

But in the office things were as they usually are. Fazzy gave me sh*t as soon as she saw me.

To be fair to her, I totally invite it. I reminded her how lucky she was to have me sitting next to her. "You're welcome!" I said.

"Yeah. I'm so lucky," repeated Fazzy with an eye roll.

I love that people in the office recognise that we are best friends and comment on how we are like an old married couple. It's nice.

But Fazzy was a bit flat today. I won't go into detail, but there are one or two things bothering her and she felt like she needed someone to talk to.

I listened and offered advice. I hope I was helpful. I reminded her that, if she was feeling bad, she should remind herself how loved she is by her family. And that her family includes ME. And how much she means to me.

AND SHE BURST INTO TEARS

I BROKE FAZZY

Fortunately. They were happy tears. I mean, I think so. Anyway, I bought her an almond croissant and that seemed to help.

After Fazzy left, Luke came around. He also seemed a bit flat so I took him for a post-work beer. He perked right up.

I'm like this whole miracle worker. I should be canonised.

It's amazing what you can do with beer and pastries.
