The Electric Lotus

Another trip to St Andrews on a cold and sunny day. A day for walking around and enjoying the fresh air and blue skies.

Today’s entry is a close up of the wheel of an Electric Lotus SUV. Apparently called the Lotus Eletre. I had not heard of this particular car.

Writing frankly to my eyes, this particular car is really quite ugly.
It is not a sports car, it is an SUV.

We have owned two Lotus cars before. One was an Elan Sprint Coupe, which appreciated dramatically when we came to sell it. The second was a 1999 Lotus Elise Coupe. We really enjoyed the car which came to an unfortunate end when the front suspension failed spectacularly and ended up in a drainage ditch. Quite embarrassing for me.

I had driven nearly 70,000 miles without any problems. There was a view that LOTUS was short for Lots Of Trouble, Usually Serious. Perhaps a little unfair.

I do remember attending a Lotus Drivers Day at Knockhill Racing circuit. I enjoyed driving a Lotus Esprit which had been given more power than normal which was great fun and extremely fast.

Various competitions had been organised and I won the trophy for the Quad Bike Trials. I was the winner. A good way to mark my 50th birthday. Much to the chagrin of several younger competitors.
