Saw the main consultant – and we joked that he failed to get the first biopsy and had to eventually refer it to a radiography consultant.

The results are in two stages – today it was confirming that the likely cause of the chronic kidney disease (CKD) was likely the high blood pressure that caused the stroke in June 2015.
This means it’s irreversible but currently it’s stable enough just to be monitored.

The second stage relies on electron microscopy at a specialist centre and the results can take months.  This will determine if he also has IgA nephropathy an autoimmune type disease.

Phlebotomy closed before we could get there so it’s back on Friday for a wide range of blood tests to ensure he is actually stable.
