Bus Challenge No 231
Glastonbury Tor and the Somerset Levels - from the front window of the top of a double decker bus!
At 7am my BC friend cried off today’s outing due to the weather, but as I’d already planned the trip, and as I knew it was going to be a beautiful, dry sunny day (contrary to what my BC friend predicted!) I set off on my own, and took a bus into Bristol before a quick change onto a second bus that took me down through the beautiful Somerset countryside to Wells, my actual Bus Challenge destination.
Today’s original plan was to spend the day in Wells, but as I was travelling on my own, cancelled the extra cover and just spent an hour and a half in England’s smallest city, still enough time to do the following: visited the cathedral, lit a candle for Mum and did some Christmas shopping in the gift shop (extras 1-3), went along to the Bishop’s Palace where the swans were hoping to be fed (extra 4), browsed the market and picked up some more Christmas gifts (extra 5 - no fishy gifts though!), and did more Christmas shopping on the high street, before buying a cake to munch for lunch on my two return buses. Home by 2pm.
A hard overnight frost, the first of the season. Was unable to feed the birds before setting off this morning as the greenhouse door was frozen solid. Blue skies and sunshine in Wells, a crisp 4degrees, my favourite kind of weather.
Bus journey time = 2h 30mins
Waiting between buses time = 29mins
Total bus journey time = 2h 59mims
Thank you for your kind stars for yesterday’s snowy blip.
