Wintry walk

I took one look at our icy drive this morning and decided that I neither wanted to drive down it nor walk down it, so Bertie and I headed for the hills. Every now and then there was a wintry shower from the north west but as we had our backs to that direction it wasn’t too bad. As soon as we got back home the sky cleared and we had some lovely sunshine.
Nick and John decided to fell a dead ash at the side of our drive. Always looking to hone their tree-felling skills they tried a letter box cut to ensure that the tree fell within a narrow corridor without damaging others around it. I was quite impressed with the result. (Extra)
It has been a few weeks since we finished the last jar from the batch of marmalade I made earlier in the year so I decided that it was time to make some more. I always try to keep enough Seville oranges in the freezer to make marmalade “out of season” once the last jar has been consumed. So the lack of marmalade has now been resolved and there are now twelve full jars cooling on the worktop, one of which will be sampled in the morning by my chief taster.
