Crash!

My niece sent me this picture last night, along with a voice note from her son, early twenties.  He explained in the recording that the had had a head-to-head crash in rugby and dented his forehead.  This is the scan that went with the voicenote.

He will have an operation next week; it sounds pretty drastic, requiring a his skull to be exposed and the bones to be re-arranged.

I loved rugby when I played at school, and the risk of this sort of injury would not have occurred to me, and it would probably not have deterred me from continuing in the game; we're all-powerful when we're young.
