A Tale Of Three ‘Parties’
This months Veterans Breakfast was at the Cornish Barista, Full English looking out over the activity centre constructed around the water filled Halvasso Quarry. A really enjoyable and filling meal with good company, Mrs S and I headed back early, dropping friends off before arriving back home late morning.
I had an hour or two before heading to the rugby club for Veteran & Family Day.
Great afternoon of rugby and friendship, 1’s beat Hayle, 2’s lost to St Ives. Presentation to the Veterans Man Of The Match, a couple of beers with friends before crossing the road and catching the bust to Redruth.
There I joined friends in the Redruth & Camborne Branch of the Royal Naval Association in the celebration of ‘Pickle Night’.
In the Navy traditionally officers celebrate Trafalgar Night and Senior Ratings celebrate Picke Night, the commemoration of HMS Pickle arriving in Falmouth with news of the victory and Nelson’s death.
Couple more beers with the tot of rum before being collected by Mrs S, Sam and Paddy for a lift home.
Tired and ready for bed.
