When Routine Bites Hard...
When I was four, I was walking along this street with my mum; there wasn't an iron gate over that entrance, it was an open alley.
It was a cold day and Mum had looked down at me and then decided to zip up my anorak.
Zippppppppp
And there my chin was zippered up too.
Every time, and I mean, every time I walk past that opening I remember it vividly. ouch.
W H Smith used to be Menzies, and before that it was Whites (I think), always a newsagent... I remember when it was wooden floor boards, and big wooden counters. Nant worked in there for years when she was but a young thing.
Jan De Vries, used to be a bakers, with rather lovely Honeybuns.
