Lichfield
Having had enough of the broken motorway system on Friday, we decided to meander cross country and visit both Matlock Bath, the place where we didn't buy a B&B, for coffee and Lichfield, a place we'd never been, for lunch.
We were pleasantly surprised by Lichfield - a nice centre with lots of pedestrian streets with interesting looking shops (albeit mostly shut on a Monday). The cathedral masonry is extraordinarily detailed - these are but three of innumerable figures on the west front alone.
Then home again. Unpacked. Offloading photos from the weekend can wait until tomorrow.
