Red Scamps

It was our return home today, but we'd been told of a location where you had a really good chance of seeing red squirrels, close up, so we took a short detour.

We weren't to be disappointed seeing at least 10 in our time there.  It was quite dark where we were watching and this proved to be the best I got from our brief stop, but it was still exciting to watch them frolicking around.  I also got my best ever shot of the elusive jay (see extra).

We've been very fortunate with the weather this week, with blue skies, albeit very cold.  We've had great company and plenty of opportunities to enjoy the Lake District's magnificent scenery.  On the drive back we went through persistent rain between Preston and Manchester on the motorway.  Home now, just in time for Storm Bert this weekend.
