Taking off
Another cold winter's day, but I spent the day in a workshop on Climate Literacy. It was a really interesting workshop with members of a number of local groups, ranging from community gardens, to e-cargo bike builders.
The event took place in the refurbished Old School Thornhill. This used to be the local primary school.
Afterwards I took a short stroll around the small town, which features the mercat cross, the Scottish name for the market cross. In this case it is a Pegasus or flying horse, which is the emblem of the Dukes of Buccleuch & Queensberry since the 1300s. The Dukes own the land around here as well as Drumlanrig Castle just north from here.
