Pictorial blethers

That window again ...

I'm sorry. I thought of posting a collage I've just made of the shop we were in this afternoon, but as far as I'm concerned the hit of the day was what caught my eye this morning as I sat in bed, idly looking at my phone and drinking tea (Darjeeling with lemon, since you ask). I looked up to see if the dramatic sunrise of ten minutes earlier had been swallowed in the clouds that had already begun to encroach when last I'd looked - and the strangely familiar sight of HMS Queen Elizabeth* actually filled the middle window. I'd been watching the last programme in a series about her only last night, and here she was, creeping up the Firth with her attendant tugs. The photo above was taken when she'd actually passed our house, so that I could include the wee ferry from Gourock in the foreground.

By the time I'd popped up and down taking photos I'd got chilled, so I stayed up and dressed instead. The morning - indeed the whole day - just sort of passed, somehow: I did Italian, did a washing which then had to be draped on drying rails because it kept raining/sleeting in brief bursts, drank coffee, wrote birthday cards, tried out the new mop on the varnished wood of our bedroom floor (I know - I really know how to have a good time).

After lunch we tried not to fall asleep and instead went out for some random errands - so random that we actually forgot one of the main items, which I now can't remember at all. I don't think my mind is on the job just now. At least we managed to fit in a walk by doing this, and came home feeling positively hot (I think it's the padded Rohan trousers wot do it).

And then Himself made the dinner and I made a list of all the poems I've written since my last collection came out just before Covid. I might have enough to put together a book with my artist friend Paddy ...

*PS:  It could, I suppose, be HMS Prince of Wales- the ship tracking app never shows naval vessels, just the tugs!
