Not crazy enough
Woke to a scattering of snow. But by the time we stopped for a cup of tea (resisting the crazy golf) it was mostly on the higher ground.
Earlier there’d been breakfast, birthday presents for Mo, and we’d explored the island in the other direction. I’d never understood the ”Scotland in miniature” description that attaches to Arran, but it’s remarkable how the landscape changes around every bend in the road.
As if it were my birthday instead of Mo’s, we stop at the Lagg distillery. Miss the tour, but enjoy the views and cafe. And cocktail. Through the landscape windows, we watch sheep trying to evade flurries of snow. Like everywhere we’ve been on Arran, the people are very friendly and welcoming.
Travelling back across the island through the hills, the snow gets pretty heavy for a while.
Before losing the light, we stop in Lamlash for the views of the imposing Holy Isle. I like the idea of an island off the coast of an island.
