Finished
I haven’t taken a photo today so far - with Storm Bert passing across the UK, it’s been a day for hunkering down. So it has to be what is currently perched on my knee, which is “The Salt Path” by Raynor Winn. I’ve just finished it, and really enjoyed it. She writes well.
A friend posted this to J a couple of years or so ago, she thought it might relate to our situation and might provide uplifting reading. But J didn’t want to engage with it, and having now read it I can understand why. “A tale of triumph, of hope over despair” as the quote on the cover says, is easier to read if you’re not facing very real and comparable challenges yourself.
The reason I started reading it is that I commenced an online OU course on travel writing, and there were one or two extracts from this book which reminded me that it was on a bookshelf unread. So I started reading it. I am way behind on the course, which has now officially finished. But I am going to continue to dip into it as all the content is still accessible. It’s a lesson in not biting off more than I can chew, and giving myself a bit more space.
