Work in progress
When I say this is a work in progress, it's not one which is progressing at speed. I'd estimate the last time any work was done on them was approaching 60 years ago, so maybe it's time to finish them off.
A cold wet and thoroughly miserable day. Storm Bert hit with wind and rain all day. I had to go into town for a bit of shopping this morning but apart from that, I haven't been out all day. And I didn't even have a newspaper to read; apparently there had been a crash somewhere in Norfolk which had prevented all the newspapers from reaching the town; they may have arrived later but certainly there were none by late morning.
So the picture? Well, I resorted to my old childhood toy box again. These were a couple of fairly standard 'Dinky Toy' Leyland Atlanteans from the mid 1960's. At some point I decided that I wanted to repaint them in the livery of the local bus company where I lived, so stripped them down to apply a coat of blue paint. You can tell I was a bit ham-fisted in the painting department and if I'm honest, I still am so don't know if I could do any better now. I was interested to see that there was still a 'T' on the front of the blue one; it's survived well considering it was only a bit of paper stuck there with spit. Unusually, the bus routes in the town where I grew up were, in those days, given letters rather than numbers and the 'T' was one which I used to get into town.
