Giant's Causeway, of course
Howling wind and lots of rain through the night. Thankfully, most of the snow has gone.
We drove up to Coleraine, where W had found there was a B&Q. Our South African visitors brought us 6 more stone birds, but we've had difficulty sourcing suitable metal sticks. Previously purchased from B&Q in Norwich, none of the local hardware or building suppliers had anything suitable. Coleraine B&Q came up with the goods!
We also popped into Sainsbury's - just next door - where we found some of my favourite gins - Adnam's CopperHouse and BrewDog's Lone Wolf. And a few other bits we can't get in the Republic.
By this time, the weather seemed to be improving, so we headed up to the coast, and drove along the Causeway Coastal route.
We stopped at a viewpoint with great views over some cliffs, and up and down the coast. (First three extras). And then at Dunluce Castle (though we didn't feel a need to pay to visit it) (4th extra)
Then on to Giant's Causeway itself. We opted to pay £10 to park at the hotel, from where we could walk to "the stones". We walked along the upper path, only to discover that the steps down from there were closed, so we had to walk back again. We did get some great photos from up there. (5th extra)
Back at the start, it was getting quite late, so we blagged a ride in a bus down to the stones. I had a good wander out onto the Causeway. Very atmospheric, with the sky, and the sunset colours.
By the time we got back to the Causeway Hotel, we were ready for dinner, so we ate there (which meant we could reclaim the cost of the parking!). We had been intending to cook for ourselves this evening, but the pasta and sauce will keep.
