Gruesome Toothsome

I came across this skull on the grass today. I decided to present it more as a specimen than in the location I found it, just by reducing exposure. I think it's about 6" long from memory, although the birch leaf gives an idea of scale.

I prefer to show nature in its prime, but, given the day was rather grey and windy, I decided this was more interesting.

My initial investigation leads me to think it's the skull of a deer, based on no front teeth and side facing eyes, which would indicate a herbivore and prey, not predator.
