River Avon Trail

Onwards with the project to walk the Kennet and Avon canal from Reading to Bath. From Bath westwards it's no longer the canal proper, but the River Avon made navigable - with locks and weirs.

Whilst I know Bath and Bristol quite well, the area in between was unknown territory for me and I had no idea that the Avon was such a serious river.

This is the weir at Saltford lock.

We made it from Bath to Keynsham just as the light faded.
