Real Ama Ebi, fake Japan
Ama Ebi are northern hemisphere, sustainable, sweet shrimp. They are served very fresh and raw. The person who shelled these must have the patience of a saint.
They are sitting on top of a relief map of the Yamanashi and Shizuoka Prefectures which surround Mount Fuji (brought back from my travels).
I went to the Japan House in Kensington this afternoon to see an exhibition of shokuhin sanpuru or the fake food you see outside Japanese restaurants, advertising their dishes.
