The trees and power lines are still bouncing around - our area's actually been given an official "Weather Warning" today - but it's less cold. The power went off as we got up this morning but it was restored within a couple of hours - we can boil a kettle on the gas in the van so it wasn't a big deal. Having featured the horizontal branches of the weeping willow yesterday I was wondering what to do next to chronicle the storm - then an article entitled "Fondle It Often" by a photographer on Substack popped up on my phone & helped to supply the answer. OK, the title looks like clickbait, but it was actually emphasising the importance of frequent practice with your camera & associated kit so that everything becomes automatic & you're not left faffing about when an important opportunity arises. It had the desired effect, as it got me off the sofa & dusting off my ND filter to practise long exposure shots from the comfort of my living room. The Blip is a one second exposure of the three cables of the 11KV power line which crosses the garden plus a group of poplars at the far end. It's taken through the glass as the camera would have been looking straight into the wind otherwise!
