A bit of history, followed by a lack of accuracy.
Martin and I made the most of the weather and had a nice walk round the refurbished Preston Tower and Gardens in nearby Prestonpans, which was lovely. Historic Scotland did a lovely job here.
Afterwards, we went to the local Asda in Tranent and can I just say how rubbish their self service tills are, more importantly, I suspect people are being ripped off!
It started off when we were charged £2.85 for some frozen veg that are meant to be only £2.00, which the ‘colleague’ sorted. However, instead of the bill being reduced by 85p, it went up by £3.00, so the ‘colleague’ was called and we decided to cancel the whole shop and start again, which we duly did. Guess what, once all went through instead of being £13.50, it was only just over £12.00 (we checked all the item prices again) … work that one out. Anyway, we decided to pay this amount, as we had spent too much time on this already.
However, the lack of accuracy is worrying, and we could have paid between £3-4 more than we should have. I worry that older people or some people might end up being ripped off.
Can I also add that when were were in Asda on Friday, they tried to charge us for a bottle of non-existent shampoo and the ‘colleague’ told us that was because we had scanned our loyalty card at the beginning of the shop as opposed to the end of the shop … ‘it always does that and we are always having to sort it’. My question is why does a company of this size have these problems and why are they not sorted as a priority.
Rant over … I hope you are enjoying Sunday.
