Hot & sticky
The weather gave up pretending to send us a drop of rain. Stayed simply hot & humid. The Blip is of the dogs right at the start of the walk, not even 10 yards from our property. I guess it might be a badger den. MrB might know.
Even the weeds are now drooping their heads. I wrote on Wednesday that the maize was enjoying the weather but learnt today it is also suffering as the large rainfall in spring & early summer meant they didn't need to grow any deeper roots. Pool is now unbearably warm so we are not covering it at night. If we didn't have to run the filter pump during the day to keep the pipes from bursting, it would make sense to do it at night to cool the water! Another two scorching days and then storms forecast for Monday - just hope they are not too violent.
Went to GP with a vial of VitaminB6 I had from last year. He confirmed my cowardly tendencies when jabbing it in to my posterior muscles. Last Thursday's B12 was taken in a lying position (wound inspection) and was OK, today in standing he was a millimeter or so off target-ooouch. Perhaps a case for GPS assisted targeting. Talking of which followed much of Oliver & Co's drive from Austria to Berlin via "Glympse". All went well and they are back home after some 2700km. Seems like yesterday when they set off. Tonight Oliver is at a bachelor, Steffi at a spinsters party, before a combined "Polterabend" tomorrow night and the actual wedding next weekend. How they manage it, I don't know. Best part of Glympse is when they get out of the car & you can track them going to the motorway rest loo - 10km/h dash in, 3 minutes 0km/h and then much relieved 3km/h walk to the coffee bar.
Took the opportunity of using the GP's visit to enjoy the car air conditioning & drove a further 3km to see if I could track down a bottle of Pimms. As feared no chance. Learnt later when MrB popped by to check the bees, that MrsB hadn't bought the entire stock of Pimms in Germany - she spread her bets, 2 Pimms#1, a few #3 and then various others including 2 of Famous Grouse.
Now need to get a good nights sleep, family visitors for the weekend.
